Hair Extension After Care & Maintenance Guide for Confide Hair Clients.

Aftercare plays a major role in the lifespan and appearance of your extensions. Gentle handling, the right products, and consistent maintenance all work together to preserve both your extensions and your natural hair.

Daily Aftercare Guidelines

  • To protect your extensions and your natural hair, you must use only a Tangle Teezer® brush.

    Start at the ends, work your way up, and once the hair is detangled, brush from roots to ends smoothly.

    Choose the Tangle Teezer® best fitted for your hair type, plus one designed for blow-drying.
    Brush at least twice a day.

  • Before bed, your hair must always be secured:

    • Loose braid

    • Low ponytail

    • Loose low ponytail

    This prevents friction, tangling, and unnecessary pulling on the roots.

  • Your hair must be fully blow-dried before sitting, laying down, or resting your head on any surface.


    Extensions should never remain damp against fabrics, pillows, or clothing to avoid tangling and matting.

    • High ponytails are strictly prohibited.

    • Mid ponytails are allowed after two weeks.

    • Low ponytails are allowed immediately.

    This protects the bonds and prevents lifting.

  • Hot Tools:

    Using hot tools is completely fine as long as you use a heat protector.

    Apply it throughout the lengths and ends, but never concentrate the product near the bonds.

    Always use a low to medium temperature, excessive heat can dry and weaken both your hair and the extensions.

Washing & Water Care

    • Wash your hair when it becomes oily. It’s ok to wash your hair daily if needed. Don’t overdue wash days.

    • Do not wash your hair upside down.

    • Do not scrub aggressively; treat the roots gently.

    • Keep the conditioner away from the bonds - apply it only mid-length to ends.

  • Avoid saltwater and chlorinated water whenever possible.

    If you are going into a pool, wear a swim cap to protect your extensions and prevent tangling or dryness.

Product Guidelines

  • Gentle cleansing shampoos:
    Safe for extensions without stripping.

    Hydrating  conditioners:
    Use mid length to ends without weighing down.

    Heat protectant:
    Always before heat styling.

    Leave in treatments:
    Applied  mid length to  ends only.

    Clarifying shampoos:
    Once in two weeks to clean your scalp from a build up.

  • Heavy Sulfates:
    Can dry out and damage extensions.

    Heavy oils near bonds:
    Can cause slipping.

    Silicone heavy products:
    Build up causes tangling.

    Alcohol based products:
    Extremely drying.

    Dry shampoos:
    Can cause slipping.
